My Imperfectly, Perfect Triffle Pudding

I wanted to make trifle pudding from long time now!! wow I got a chance!!

I was really excited!! Could be more easier If I opted layering in a large bowl!!
But I wanted individual serving for Iftar, This will make a fair share to all of us :)

I tried my hands layering pudding in 14 disposable glasses.

Layers I used in each glass:
1. Pieces of Sponge cake with diluted juice of strawberry crush ( tasted yumm)
2. Layer of vanilla custard topped with sliced almonds
3. Layer of chopped banana's  topped with undiluted mango squash 2-3tsp just to cover the layer of banana
4. Vanilla custard Topped with generous pinch of cocoa powder
5. Layer of chopped apples topped with undiluted strawberry squash
6. Again layer of vanilla custard with generous sprinkle of cocoa powder, added some ripe mango pieces too
7. Topping with jelly:
Now this part kept funny with me. I used a pack of strawberry jelly which did not set at all, I was running short of time and was not sure how this dessert tasted!

I gave a cup to my bro and he was eating and trying to explore each flavor, like a big food critics lol. That made me so unsure on how the triffle actually tasted. If others will like it or not.

So I had to do something with the jelly part for filling in the cups, because I went short of vanilla custard too.

I mixed whipping cream and amul fresh cream to the jelly thinking it should give me some richness atleast if not gud cubes. I need to fill glasses. And here you see the crazy color which I got!!

After Iftar and namaz when I brought in this Pudding everyone's expression was worth noting it
That shocking moment!! And Everyone questioned on what it was!! My bro was having fun seeing faces and giving everyone wired answers (Thats what bro's are meant to be for I guess) lol

Once everyone started digging in, Who cares :D It was just deliciously yummy!!

Impression & Remarks:
All of us including me were curious to taste this pudding!! Though it wasn't perfect yet it was something new to be checked out with!!

There was no complaints with the taste and bursting flavors.

My mama is my biggest critics, he ate it without any complaint
My dad when started eating said Jaandar hai (very lively in taste)
My nana and aunts enjoyed it too!! Yess missed my nani she couldn't catch up with us.
There were 2 outsiders and luckily I made extra glasses
They enjoyed every spoon they digged in!! They Loved it!!

So these were some priceless moments for me yesterday to my hard work with short time.

And yes though it was imperfect, no clear pic (was not planning to click or blog)
But my experience and the taste were definitely perfect for Blogging!!

Next Time I shall be more organized before I start making it!!
As usual I cannot stick to the traditional ones!! May be again my own crazy Tries :)

Will Keep updating!!

Until then cya :)

Mango Custard Drink

This is an amazing drink which happened to be created by accident.

Im extremely sorry for the low pic quality, my cam is on trip with my bro in his vaccination trip, and Im still happy I got my webcam to do the job (Something is better than nothing) My webcam was the only source to click pics in the initial days of blogging and it never let me down :)

My Purpose to utilize mango was to make a dessert, I decided to make mango custard as my uncle and aunt was here last night. But as the process took place it became more Like a drink and I'll tell you how :)

Ingredients:
Full Cream Milk - 1/2 liter
Mango - Large Size (chopped finely)
Cornflour - 1/4th cup
Sugar - 2-3 tbsp
Cornflakes - 3/4th - 1 cup

Method:
- Boil milk with 1 cup of water.
- Dilute cornflour into a paste and keep it ready, As milk boils add this paste by constantly stirring the milk so that no lumps form.
- Add in sugar and and cook for another 2-3 mins.
- You will have nice thick consistency custard with u now.
- Set this aside for cooling
- When the temp drops, add in cornflakes and finely chopped mangoes to the prepared custard (as you add mangoes take them little by little squeeze it in ur fist lightly let extra juice come out to flavor up the custard and remaining chunks of mangoes in hand be added to custard too, Like this do it with all chopped mangoes)
Let it for cooling.

After sometime was a shocker custard has lost its consistency to much liquid now which was more like a drink with mango chunks squeezed in....

Ok so lets make this accidental drink more drinkable I though :)

To this I added

Pinch of saffron
Elaichi Powder - 1/2tsp
Sliced almonds - 1tbsp
Honey - 1 - 2 tbsp depending upon taste, As sugar added to above custard was too less.

Mix all the mentioned above and allow it to cool atleast for 4-5hrs for flavors to infuse

Serve it chillied

Notes:
- Use sweetest Mango if u got it really boosts the taste
- Since base of the drink lies with cornflour it has a unique texture, which cannot be got when done with milk alone
- You can use condensed milk for richer taste
- Serve along with cornflakes
- Can use vanilla custard powder instead of cornflour

You Gotta Believe me this was the most wonderful drink with mango after mango lassi. All the flavors got infused so well it gave a unique taste to the whole thing.

This drink got appreciation and liked by all at home!!

I had this with cornflakes in the morning when I woke up for fasting and I couldn't believe my taste buds were actually having a great treat.
May be next time when I make this on purpose (not accidental)
I'll serve it along with some crispy cornflakes on top so that all of us can have double treat of munching some crisp along with mango chunks and gudness of milk

If you ever happen to come in such situations like me do not panic, we never know things happen with us for something much better.....

Ever u happen to try this Pls give ur feedback on how it turned :)

Healthy Ice Apple Dessert - Dieters Choice

Last Year I had Shared A Recipe Of Ice Apple With Milk, Which I Titled As FLOATING ICE APPLE IN MILKY PARADISE Check Out If You Haven't Seen Yet!!

This recipe is sister version of the above title mentioned, but a very healthy and low calorie treat.

Every Summer mom makes sure we get some ice apples and we consume it, as it is (whole fruit) skin peeled or making this yummy light dessert.

When mom brought this yesterday she asked me to make the dessert. Ice apples fused with milk gives real yumm taste, and really worth trying this way once.  I made very much as it is made always, But this healthier alternative strike my mind. I took out some the batch to try the innovation my way.

It was when I started adding sugar!! Sugar??? Ok I should admit im trying to omit sugar from my diet, unless and until im not giving a real treat to myself!! Or there is a shout from my family come-on have it!!

Time taken to prepare - 5 mins
Servings - 2

Ingredients :
Full Cream Milk/ skimmed milk - 1 cup (boiled and cooled)
Ice Apple - 6-8 (peeled & chopped)
Dates - 7-8 or more (chopped)
Basil seeds - 2 tsp
Almonds - 1tbsp (blanched) Sliced

Method:
- Add milk, ice apple and dates in a bowl and keep it inside fridge for 4-5hrs for flavors to infuse with each other
- Soak basil seeds in water for 15-20 mins and keep it in fridge for cooling separately
- Check for sweetness while serving. By this time dates would have soaked in milk nicely, mixing its sweetness to the dessert.
- Add in basil seeds (drain extra water) and almonds just before serving.
Serve it Chill.

Notes:
- If you want you can add sugar if you feel sweetness of dates is not enough.
- Basil seeds gives really soothing effect while eating
- Almonds give gud crunchiness.
- Shelf life of this is 6-8hrs, If milk and fruit is kept like that for longer time, it will produce a kind of stickiness which cannot be consumed.
- Its always better to add basil seeds while serving, I fear it may get sticky quick.
- You can add more dates than mentioned above it will not effect the taste.

Personally I liked this combination alot!! It was just different and biggest thing was a big Healthy Tag It was Carrying :) It was a guilt free indulgence!!

Variation (For Guests)
- You can add condensed milk for richer taste.
- Use dates paste instead of pieces, this will give more dominance to taste of dates.
- Add in vanilla ice cream while serving.
- Can add in more dry fruits if desired.
- Add some amt of rose syrup from top while serving.

Broken Wheat Carrot Pudding

A change of ingredient can make it kheer or custard!!!

Sundays are special and as usual I make a point to make something spl for my bro!! yesss Sunday is for family!! Dad is at home and my bro too, so I make sure im upto some experiment for sure. But from this sunday Im dragging myself Im so lazy to even type a post!! Im still dragging to complete it as well!! But okz enough I want to complete my post and proceed....................

I had a cup of daliya lying around from long and dint really knew what to do with it!! Nobody is daliya fan at home so wanted to make something and finish it of!! I Googled for lapsi and other daliya sweets But finally landed up with my own trial and error of making this delicious Pudding/ Dessert.

Ingredients

1 cup daliya / Broken wheat
3 medium size carrot (cut into big chunks)
3 cups water
Full Cream Milk 750 ml + 1 cup water again
Custard powder 2 tbsp
Sugar to taste

Method:

- Soak daliya in water, for minimum half hour. Wash it nicely bfr cooking!!
- Cook Daliya and Whole Carrot in Pressure cooker adding 3 cups of water. If not using cooker, cook it till carrot is soft and mashable.
- Boil milk, add in this carrot daliya mixture, let it cook in milk for 10 mins again.

- Add sugar according to ur taste, add custard powder mixed with water/milk and cook till it thicken!!

- Add in nuts to ur taste if u like!! So Simple n Done!!
- Serve it hot or Chilled!! Both Taste yumm!!

Notes:

- Daliya needs Lots of water to absorb and cook!!
- Can Cook Carrot seperately or along with daliya your choice
- Pressure cooking and mashing carrot is better, normal stove top cooking need hard hands to mash the carrot chunks!
- We are not mashing carrots fully, but some chunks remain, this gives a nice difference while eating. as well as in the presentation.
- Quantity of milk depends on quantity of daliya taken. Since I wanted to finish it of I used whole 1 cup. you can reduce the quantity.
- Since daliya is broken product of wheat, It wil absorb lots of moisture while cooking.
- You may add condensed milk for more richness!!

Impression:

- Daliya was well cooked and got well along with the whole concept.
- bits of carrot in it gave a difference while eating which was pleasant.
- Adding Custard Powder gave a creamy texture to the recipe and vanilla flavor in advantage.
- Adding nuts again depends on ur choice of serving!!

Can be Served as Dessert In parties or also at home when u desire to eat something sweet and healthy as tag to deal with!!

Now the Most Important Part Is...............

You can make it as Custard / Kheer depending on ur choice.
- Add custard powder and you get Broken Wheat Carrot Custard.
- You add condensed milk and cook for more time Till it reaches kheer consistency and u get Carrot Daliya Kheer

Take Pleasure for Name Ceremony as and when U Create ur own desired Dishes :)

Personally I liked it so much that I wanted to finish off the whole thing myself :)
