Badam Milk - A Royal Treat

Badam Milk lovers Treat Your Self At Home With This Simple Recipe.

Badam milk sounds so yummmyyy!! I love it!! But I do not intake it often. Yes its so good as a treat alone, when you have it some times and feel great!!

If you are the one who go to restaurants/ sweets shops and find the price hiked up in the menu each time, then finally you give a big sigh and drop your plans to visit the place again. Then I would say great idea!! make your own in much cheaper price and enjoy with your entire family

I made this badam milk long back but to my bad luck our house shifting had backlogged my blogging very badly. Im still unable to get back to the normal blogging routine and activities like before. But yes I'm making sure I blog at least once a week to keep my baby fed nicely!!

Many of us know badam milk as summer cooler. A chilled sip of badam milk can cool you down , But when you take it warm, its great for Winter too. Warm sips of badam milk can lift up your souls when you are down!!

Since monsoon is around and already im feeling low with sinusitis and sneezes, Im sure there are few others like me with low climatic change resistance. I post this drink which can be taken hot / cool depending on your health & climatic conditions

Ingredients
Milk - 1 liter
Almonds - 25
Elaichi / cardamon - 1/2 tsp powder / 2-3 pods (see notes)
Saffron - 1 pinch or more
Sugar - As needed
Pistachios - for garnishing (blanched & sliced)

Method:
- Blanch almonds either by boiling it in water or by microwave.
- Grind almonds into smooth paste using milk/ water
- Soak saffron in milk for sometime
- Boil milk, once it boils add saffron, elaichi and almond paste to the milk and cook for few mins till you feel all the flavors are fused nicely this should be about 3-5 mins in boiling over medium heat.
- Add in pistachios
- Serve it Warm or Chilled - Enjoy!!

In the pic above, Do u see the richness it carries? It is clearly visible at the edges :)

Notes:-
- You can always adjust the consistency of this by adding extra milk or boiling it for more time and reducing it. Choice is yours. But reducing the milk might make it feel more rich and difficult to drink. Check on how you like better
- If you don't have saffron you can skip that and go only with cardamon.
- Some people like rose flavor you can add in some drops of rose water too.
- Pistachios can be considered optional too. But if you are serving your guests then it surely boosts up the outlook of the drink!!
- In case you are looking out for that typical badam drink yellow color which we find in sweet shops and other places. I would say it highly depends on the quality of saffron being used / add yellow coloring for a brighter look, we never know what happens there during preparation.
This is another reason I like to prepare most of the things at home rather get it from outside. Advantages of preparing food at home is more higher you just rightly know what goes in, than to get from outside and u never know what really went in. Minus those lazy days when u really need a break and get food from outside :D

Another super quick idea for flavoring would be Everest Milk Masala.

Do use what ever you please for flavorings but the star ingredient will be Badam & Milk Alone!!

Try out in your own styles and enjoy this drink the way you like!!

Remember Summer Or Winter This drink is going to be your ROYAL TREAT

Do try and let us know how it turned :)

Mango Custard Drink

This is an amazing drink which happened to be created by accident.

Im extremely sorry for the low pic quality, my cam is on trip with my bro in his vaccination trip, and Im still happy I got my webcam to do the job (Something is better than nothing) My webcam was the only source to click pics in the initial days of blogging and it never let me down :)

My Purpose to utilize mango was to make a dessert, I decided to make mango custard as my uncle and aunt was here last night. But as the process took place it became more Like a drink and I'll tell you how :)

Ingredients:
Full Cream Milk - 1/2 liter
Mango - Large Size (chopped finely)
Cornflour - 1/4th cup
Sugar - 2-3 tbsp
Cornflakes - 3/4th - 1 cup

Method:
- Boil milk with 1 cup of water.
- Dilute cornflour into a paste and keep it ready, As milk boils add this paste by constantly stirring the milk so that no lumps form.
- Add in sugar and and cook for another 2-3 mins.
- You will have nice thick consistency custard with u now.
- Set this aside for cooling
- When the temp drops, add in cornflakes and finely chopped mangoes to the prepared custard (as you add mangoes take them little by little squeeze it in ur fist lightly let extra juice come out to flavor up the custard and remaining chunks of mangoes in hand be added to custard too, Like this do it with all chopped mangoes)
Let it for cooling.

After sometime was a shocker custard has lost its consistency to much liquid now which was more like a drink with mango chunks squeezed in....

Ok so lets make this accidental drink more drinkable I though :)

To this I added

Pinch of saffron
Elaichi Powder - 1/2tsp
Sliced almonds - 1tbsp
Honey - 1 - 2 tbsp depending upon taste, As sugar added to above custard was too less.

Mix all the mentioned above and allow it to cool atleast for 4-5hrs for flavors to infuse

Serve it chillied

Notes:
- Use sweetest Mango if u got it really boosts the taste
- Since base of the drink lies with cornflour it has a unique texture, which cannot be got when done with milk alone
- You can use condensed milk for richer taste
- Serve along with cornflakes
- Can use vanilla custard powder instead of cornflour

You Gotta Believe me this was the most wonderful drink with mango after mango lassi. All the flavors got infused so well it gave a unique taste to the whole thing.

This drink got appreciation and liked by all at home!!

I had this with cornflakes in the morning when I woke up for fasting and I couldn't believe my taste buds were actually having a great treat.
May be next time when I make this on purpose (not accidental)
I'll serve it along with some crispy cornflakes on top so that all of us can have double treat of munching some crisp along with mango chunks and gudness of milk

If you ever happen to come in such situations like me do not panic, we never know things happen with us for something much better.....

Ever u happen to try this Pls give ur feedback on how it turned :)

Royal Nutty Rose Milk

Rose is Something Which Attracts many people just by its Name, And when its with milk??? Yumm flavored and Healthy Drink Packed Together!! Some Indian Flavors Like Rose, Kesar, Badam Etc Gives a sense of Royalness in their taste so as this drink with a little of its intro playing its part at my home :)

I know its not new for many of us! But yet many still are not aware of this yummy drink!! My relatives who ever taste this have a question always on "how do u make this?" And my aunt who lives in orrisa,  her family is completely crazy, This drink is a must make when they visit us! Though its simple I still dint get why they arent able to make it themselves well gud for mom she is always in demand for many of her cooking skills ;)

Today Im sharing this fav drink of my family and clicked pictures today not because we had some guests or Im trying to beat Chennai Heat in Cool Winters which never enters Chennai lolz. But Since we are in the beginning Of New Islamic Year which is Called Muhrram my family and relatives have a ritual to make and chilled drink on 6th day and Recite Fatiha (Prayer) distribute the drink among Family Friends & Relatives and Also to Poor needy or the one very thirsty. I actually do not know the root of the reason why this is done but ok no Questions on something I dont know! When I tried to know from mom what drink our relatives make at Village? she says nothing I was almost shrugging my shoulders and asked her then why we do this? She said we had been doing since long, She dont have an answer and Im sure my relatives who follow it also dont know why they do certain things, Many muslims do this and many dont!! so lets not think and get on with this yummy drink :)

Serves - 4 - 5
Level - Very Easy

Ingredients:
Milk - 1 liter Full Cream
Water - 1cup
Sugar - 5- 6 tablespoon According To your taste
Rooh Afza - 2-3 tablespoon or any brand of Rose Syrup
Almonds - 1 tablespoon
Pistachio - 1 tablespoon

Method:
- Blanch and Slice Almonds and Pistachio in advance or you may do later too.
- Boil Milk & water in a pot and Add Sugar Less than Sweet Enough for your taste
- Boil the milk in low for 3-4 mins till the sugar melts into the milk and gets cooked for a while (this step is important)
- Cool down the milk and Add Rooh Afza mix it ( Add enough just to give rose flavor and light pink color) Also see notes!!
- Add in blanched and sliced nuts
- Chill it and Serve!!!

Enjoy the Drink by Crunching Nuts In Every Sip

Notes:
- Full Cream milk gives a richer taste. If you are diet conscious you can used skimmed milk too
-  Adding sugar to boiling milk and cooking for a min or 2 gives the whole thing a very rich taste. The density which we will obtain by doing this will increase the taste to a different level. But its optional!!
- If you already have chilled milk add in powdered sugar, as granulated sugar may not dissolve soon.
- You may proceed consuming the drink without nuts too but nuts give such a nice flavor in every sip we hardly can avoid.
- You may skip nuts and add soaked basil seeds this again is an amazing combo!!
- My relatives who sent their had added chorinji as well.
- The reason why I said to add sugar lesser than your sweet level was that when we add rose syrup it will have certain amount of sugar consistency and that will balance the taste.
- Light pink color is more appealing and gud to taste flavor wise compared to more rose syrup added which become dark pink and too much rosy and heavy in flavor.
We always prefer Rooh afza when it comes to rose syrup as it gives the perfect taste of natural flavor which we are used to. We had tasted other brands rose syrup and essence such as Himalayas etc but never got  better taste out of it.  But still this should not become a reason for u to not try out this drink :)
- If you like you may add some rose petals while serving for the Real kind of royal look but I dont assume it much sensible as many people may not like to having rose petals Disturbing their drink, Specially when u have nuts along to munch

This is just a perfect Drink for all time and Occasions.
If you ask me to describe this drink in short?? I would just say
A Royal Treat!!!!
So What are you waiting for? Try out this Royal Nutty Drink Yourself and Know the Difference!!

Also do let me know how you liked it :)

Mango Guava Smoothie

Juices can be taken anytime even off summer right?
All the bloggers have move from juices and smoothies to snacking and salads When I still stick to it for a cause
Summer is at off set and Climate is getting better around, Not In Chennai Atleast Damn I start feeling hot and sweating only after evening which makes me sick. Fasting In such days can make you quench for thirst more n more, but yet Alhamdulillah Im able to manage. I really wish that climate gets better by Ramdhan!!

Im not a fussy eater who wants such n such things for iftar or want juices compulsory as many do. But This climate is making me carve for some chilled drinks too :(

Anyhow lets get to this quicky session of Mango Guava Juice

Since im the only person fasting at my home now, Im really not bothered on what to consume or not. I had Guava Juice Of Real and mangoes sitting in my fridge when I instantly came up with fusing both the flavors together.

Serves 1
Mango Cubes - 1/2 cup
Guava Juice - 150 ml or a small glass (Real Tetra Pack)

Blend in both the ingredients in juicer and Serve Chilled!!!!

Notes:

I did not add sugar as the sweetness from the Guava Juice and Mangoes were enough.
I dint added ice cubes as mangoes and juice was chilled and the temp was fine for me. I dint wanted my drink very chilled either.
If you add ice cubes, you may need sugar according to your taste.
May be you can also try adding some mint leaves or lemon juice too :)

Impression:

Was Lip Smacking :D Wanted more and more though. Was Sipping down kool combo of Mango and Guava :)

Juice of Guava was Faint Redish color + Mango was Perfect Yellow which gave my drink Yellowish Red Ting.

Do Try it sometime and fall in love with this simple drink
